DANCE STUFF: The pressure is off! Relaxing after the Dancers for Life show are [013-001] Cathy Levy and Jerry Doiron, the principal organizers “along with about 20 others” of the event. The show, a fundraiser for the AIDS Committee of Toronto, took place at the St. Lawrence Centre and raised over $60,000. Seen at the reception afterward were [013-002, l-r] videographer Shamila Hunter, dancers Nicholas Khan, Rex Harrington and Margaret Illman (all from the National Ballet of Canada), man of leisure/caterer Fred Omstead and restaurateur Lisa-Marie Doorey.

CLUB STUFF: Limelight, a new nightclub on Adelaide, threw open its doors last week to much fanfare. Among the folks basking in the spotlight were [013-016, at back] champion boxer Donovan Boucher, (middle, L -R) Rohan from the Silver Dollar, lreti, a student at York, Carolyn A. Ellsworth, a model and, sticking his head in from below, a partyer who was seduced back to the revelry before being ID’ed. THEATRE STUFF: Theatre Columbus and the Canadian Stage Company heralded their upcoming collaboration, Ratbag, an original, all-Canadian musical, with a media conference at Ultrasound tat week. Ratbag – Aussie slang for an unreliable, eccentric or stupid person – is the baby of [013-012] John Millard (music) and Martha Ross (text), seen here with their newest collaboration, 7-week-old Lillian. Also out yakking up the scribes were [013-013] co-directors Leah Cherniak and, “in the better frock,” Peter Hinton. Never before published outtakes below.


MUSIC STUFF: Record biz insiders were treated to a pair of stellar shows last week. First up, at Manta Eastern Sound, was blues legend Buddy Guy in a “Command Performance” radio show broadcast live coast-to-coast. Buddy [013-052] signed a few autographs post-show, including one for blues singer Lisa Lang. She had met the band a while ago, while suffering from a broken leg, and came by to pick up Buddy’s signature on her cast.







MORE MUSIC STUFF: British popsters World Party blew into Lee’s Palace and banged out a terrific, if brief, set to promote their upcoming release, Bang. Among the lucky stiffs who caught the lab show were [e Phil Fletcher (centre back) and Romaine Andronyk (centre front), both of HMV, shown with World Party main brain Karl Wallinger (L) and, supporting the melon, guitarist Steve McEwan.
