VROOM, VROOM, SPLASH: Hugo Boss the men’ clothing company, and one or the sponsors of the champion Penske Indy Team – held a “Brazilian pool party” for the team and its friends Saturday before the 8th running of the Molson Indy. The party, a warm, friendly affair, drew a mixed crowd of athletes, musicians, financiers and assorted hangers-on dressed in some damn fine suits, all attracted to the excitement and danger of big-time motorsports. Among the drivers present was [031-001, l-r] the hometown hero, and the champion on the CNE course, Paul Tracy, seen with his wife Tara.  Gathered together for the thumbs up, were [031-002, l-r] driver Danny Sullivan (he placed 3rd), host for the evening (it was his house) Hugo Boss Canada boss Eric Silverman, driver Emerson Fittipaldi (he placed 2nd), his 6-year-old daughter, Joana (she didn’t qualify) and the man himself, racing legend Roger Penske. Hanging out by the pool – it was a pool party, even if nobody swam – [031-003, r] retired driver turned coach Rick Mears and his wife Chris. Up by the hall [031-004, l-r], we caught up with musician John Oates and his girlfriend, student Amy Pommier, while down by the bullet were [031-005, l-r]  Toronto Maple Leal Mike Krushelnyski and his wife Areta.

HAIR, MAKEUP, STYLE: The Artist Group, an agency that represents hair, makeup, stylists, and other behind-the-scenes artists in the fashion world, held its first anniversary party at the BamBoo last week. Since they didn’t have a launch or Christmas party, they pulled out all the stops for this affair and it was packed with a talented and beautiful crowd. The brains behind the whole shebang, [031-022, l-r] partners / owners Julie Miller and Jennifer Hodge, deserve to toast themselves. Up on the rooftop patio were [031-023, l-r] designer for Ports International Tu Ly, Marc Garand of CIBC, and the beauty editor of Chatelaine, Charmaine Gooden, while downstairs, we found [031-024, l-r] model brothers Marc and lan Hundley, with model friend Cathy Connolly. Hanging out, literally, inside was [031-025, l-r] photographer Mir Lada.

Way too many outtakes [031-026 to 031-050] follow in the carousel including [031-026, r] photographer David Leyes getting huggy. Can you ID anyone?

SCENE CHANGE: The Queen’s Bedroom has moved to new digs on Markham St. and talk about a magnet for the usual suspects. The place feels like the ultimate rec room to hang out in – and get yelled at by mom (or in this case, co-owner Jane Ford) for talking too loud. Sorry, Jane, my voice just carries. Taking a peek around the room, we found, by the stage [031-051, l-r], artist Greg Kramer, who designed the club’s logo, and cartoonist Neil Amitay; over by the stairs [031-052, l-r], comic and Illustrated Men member Bruce Hunter, with writer/director Howie Wiseman; and, at one of the tables, [031-053, l-r] the owners of Icon Hair Inc., Reeve and Lisa.

Bonus never previously published images follow, including [031-054, l-r] Vocalists Lorraine Segato of The Parachute Club and Holly Cole. Also [031-055, l-r] Sam “The Record Man” Sniderman with Queen’s Bedroom co-owner Jane Ford.  By the window [031-056, r] we find musician Kristin Dahlem with Yuk Yuk’s founder Mark Breslin.
