YOU COULD PARTY NOW: Ann Magnuson brought her witty and insightful one woman show You Could Be Home Now to Theatre Passe Muraille last week. Opening night was Saturday, with a party afterward that started in the theatre and later moved to the more intimate surroundings of the home of producer Shelley Spevakow [030-001, l], seen here with the star herself. Making a rare appearance in public was [030-002] singer Tabby Johnson, who still remembers how to enjoy herself. Among the more colourful characters out tor the evening were [030-003, l-r] filmmaker Nadia Sistonen, hairstylist Rocky Handspiker and the Vivid Group’s den dominatrix, Go Go Begonia. Among those making the trek up to the house were [030-004, l-r] fashion designer Kate Brooks, Eric Weissman (co-owner of the Exile Bar on Queen), and investor Earl Peteski. Hanging out at the bar were [030-005, l-r] the music writing team of songwriter Shirley Eikhard (Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About”) and composer Lesley Barber, who also does film and theatre. Magnuson’s show runs until July 25. Never published previously outtakes [030-006 to 030-020]  follow.

EMULSION SIDE UP: Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography opened its Latent Images show last weekend. Opening day was rather lightly attended, but the stifling 30-plus temperatures outside might have wilted some people’s enthusiasm lo come out and play among the art crowd. Among the hardy souls who braved the heat were [030-021, l-r] actor Francisca Zentilti and psychology professor Sherry Stewart. Also on hand were [030-022, l-r] the three artists on display, Carol Sawyer from Vancouver, Donna Brunsdale from Calgary and Moritz Gaede from Halifax. [030-023, l-r] model maker Joe Feldman and artist Sandra Meigs, brought art scene veteran (four openings in five months!) Evelyn Feldman. Gallery 44 members [030-024, l-r] Susan Shandling and Byron Bignell showed up with junior gallery member Bud the puppy. Never published previously outtakes [030-025 to 030-030]  follow.

TAKE THIS HOME: Willie P. Bennett had a party to launch his album Take My Own Advice at Ultrasound on Thursday. Taking the stage to play Bennett’s own brand of “totally Canadian” folk-inflected roots music were (left, l-r) Denis Pendrith, Willie himself, Mike Holder and Ed White. Proving he’s from the old school of gentlemanly entertainers, Willie said thanks and “God bless you” at the end of the set. Taking it in from the seats were (below left, l-r) the fabulous Land sisters, Judy and Jacqueline, seen here with artist Richard Whyte; and (below,l-r) from the Gravelberrys, musician Paul Myers (famous in his own right), director Scott Dobson, and model Judy Enns, who shows up in a Gravelberry video. Never published previously outtakes [030-034 to 030-042]  follow. Recognize anyone?
