XIT II EDEN: A new nightclub on Adelaide St. W. rolled out the red carpet last week, and look who dropped by – none other than Sir Bob Geldof [015-001]. He was in town to do some promo work and just popped in for a drink afterwards. The club itself is a cool display of curved, fieldstone-covered walls, water fountains and grape leaf-styled fixtures. Also showing up for the evening [015-002] was techno-performance-art group the House of Extanaur (Back, L -R) Capt. Cobalt, Jean-Paul, Diva 1, (Front, L-R) Dion and Mitzuko-San. Lots of unpublished photos in the carousel of outtakes.

BOP CATS BOP BACK: Rockabilly kings the Bopcats [015-028, clockwise from back left] Teddy Fury, Zeke Rivers, Jack DeKeyzer and Sonny Baker got together for a reunion show at the Horseshoe last week. Despite being defunct for years, they managed to whip the crowd into a sweating, twisting, hoppin’ and boppin’ frenzy. Among the faithful was [015-029] fan Scott Rose of Maclean Hunter.

IT’S A WRAP: The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) held its Annual General Meeting over the weekend and, after bureaucratic affairs were dealt with, they all kicked back with a wrap party at the Academy of Spherical Arts. Getting in a little R&R were [015-043, l-r] new DGC prez Allan King, consultant / researcher Paul Audley and director / actor AI Waxman. Taking aim [015-044] is director/designer Trelawny Howell with the arm of film editor Michael Rea, national editing rep and DGC vice-chairman.

On hand at opening night of night club / karaoke bar / disco Casablanca in Scarborough were Brian Scale and Gary Pinter of Energy 108, waitress Nicole Mercer, entertainment consultant Philipp Welsh, club marketing manager Lorelei, and Kathy Otto and Michael E. Ryan, both of Pleasuredome. March 1993.

RICK , WHERE ARE WE? Tucked between a muffler shop and a furniture warehouse in deepest Scarborough is night club/karaoke bar/disco Casablanca. Definitely not a Queen St. club. This place is huge, about the size of a furniture store. Making the trek for the grand opening party were [015-058,  l-r] Brian Scale and Gary Pinter of Energy 108, waitress Nicole Mercer, entertainment consultant Philipp Welsh, club marketing manager Lorelei, and Kathy Otto and Michael E. Ryan, both of Pleasuredome. Entertaining the patrons at the shooter bar was wacko bartender Dwyane Hill [015-059 and 015-060], seen doing his deer-caught-in-headlights imitation.
