INGRID HAMILTON’S 1Oth ANNUAL PARTY: Every January, promoter Ingrid Hamilton, of GAT (Gal About Town) Productions, throws a party. Why? We’re not really sure. She says it’s a reason to get presents, but it’s not her birthday. But – who cares!!! The venue is always different, the turnout terrific and it’s a ton of fun. In [005-001] are Ingrid and Sky Gilbert of Buddies in Bad Times. Along for the evening was [005-002] “Holden Caufield” and actor Angela Dohrmann, ex of MuchMusic and currently of Material World. Hey Angela, what happened to the nose? “Moses punched me out for quitting Much.” Ouch.

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, THE BAR IS NOW OPEN: Wednesday saw the doors of a new club, Baroque, at Finch and Dufferin (Where? Do I need a passport?) thrown open to the adoring public. The club is large. Very large. Think airplane hanger with a liquor licence. Lording over the festivities are, [005-012, left to right], Peter Koulougliotis, Ron Gastman and Lou Koutsaris, three of the co-owners.
Unknown guests in [005-013]
SWANK AFFAIR AT THE SQUEEZE: Videocabaret celebrated their forthcoming production of “The History of the Village of the Small Huts, Part VII, The Life and Times of Mackenzie King” with an evening of theatre, art and jazz. The art part was an auction of 20 original re-works of classic Canadian paintings done by local artists – they paint over photocopies of the real thing. Sort of paint-by-toner. Former mayoral candidate Jack Layton, at right in photo 005-014, with actor Cynthia Eastman and playwright Michael Hollingsworth, swung a mean gavel as the auctioneer and persuaded the crowd to part with about $5,000. In [005-015] are Bill House, director of operations for Telefilm Canada, and Linda Muir, costume designer, got into the mood along with the rest of the crowd by dressing in period costume.

ROOTS DAUGHTERS FUND RAISER: The Real Jerk Pit hosed an evening of music to raise capital to finish filmmaker Bianca Nyavingi Brynda’s feature-length documentary, “Roots Daughters”. Included in the entertainment were [005-028] Donna Makeda & The Burning Flames International Dancers from Guyana, above. Drawing your attention in the pic are, left to right, dancer Foxy Flex, singer Donna Make and dancer Sweet Sensation.

BREAKFAST AT SUTTON PLACE: The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television kicked off its Breakfast Club series with a talk by David Cronenberg. The event is a way for people in the business to get together with others in the business, to talk business and maybe generate more business. Not quite breakfast at Spago with Ovitz, but hey, you take what you can get. Caught reaching during a business card exchange [005-032] are David Cronenberg and producer Katherine Smally.
Outtake [005-033] features Director of photography Paul Sarossy on the right.
